Sprint intros converged network solution

Sprint has released a fixed-mobile convergence service called Wholesale Mobile Integration, says UCS.

The service, the company says, allows Sprint's wholesale customers to integrate the wireline and voice networks of business customers, delivering a converged solution.

Wholesale Mobile Integration is a collaboration between Sprint and Broadsoft to bring together wireless and voice-over-Internet protocol (VOIP) elements for their customers, while working with other VOIP platform providers.

BSNL to roll out fixed-mobile convergence

Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL), an Indian state-owned fixed-line and mobile services provider, is set to deploy a fixed-mobile convergence service, states CIOL.

The fixed-mobile service is a form of infrastructure technology and network-based service that supports and connects both the cellular access and fixed-land line telephony via a single telecommunication network base.

BSNL provides 3G services in India, and claims it is ready with the infrastructure needed to roll out mobile number portability, before it introduces the fixed-mobile service.

Telegent mobile TV roadmap

Telegent Systems will introduce hybrid single-chip and analogue TV receivers that enable its mobile handset customers to sell into markets currently in transition from analogue to digital TV standards, says PR Newswire.

Telegent has shipped more than 90 million free-to-air mobile TV chips into handsets sold globally since 2007.

"We are continuously and aggressively pursuing industry-leading positions on the technical dimensions that matter most to our customers - picture quality, size, power consumption and system cost," says Ford Tamer, president and CEO of Telegent.
