Square One dips

Johannesburg, 31 Aug 2004

Square One Solutions says it expects to report a dip in its results for the six months to 30 June.

The JSE-listed company says in a trading update to shareholders that its results will be at least 30% lower than in the same period last year.

Square One provides solutions for document and information sharing, technology, e-commerce, storage, biometric IT solutions, variable data product marking, uninterruptible power supplies, consulting and value-added services.

Square One recently announced the acquisition of IT infrastructure services company Latitude for R1.64 million.

For the six months to June last year, Square One reported net attributable profit of R1.38 million compared with R3.36 million for the previous comparative period. It achieved headline earnings per share of 6.3c on turnover of R36.65 million.

However, in the year to 31 December net attributable profit rose from R0.1 million to R1.34 million, despite a 47.5% decline in turnover. CEO Trevor James said at the time the results were released that turnover for the previous year was boosted by a one-off biometric authentication deal.
