Square One gains EMC partner status, offers total shared storage solutions

Johannesburg, 22 Oct 2008

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, has appointed JSE-listed Square One Solutions Group Ltd as a Velocity^2 Partner.

Square One Technology Solutions Regional Sales Manager Oscar Frutuoso said the solutions which EMC offer are a perfect fit with Square One's overall value proposition to clients - “delivering meaningful solutions”. EMC shared storage infrastructure delivers more than a central location in which to store data by also providing an infrastructure that manages information throughout its lifecycle.

“Shared storage is a requirement for companies adopting the latest technologies including virtualisation, content management and archiving, to name a few,” said Frutuoso. “Through our partnership with EMC we have access to significant resources in assessing, procuring, supporting and training in shared storage technology systems and solutions.”

He added that EMC Corporation had recently introduced significant enhancements to its Velocity^2 Partner Programme for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Among these was the introduction of partner specialties in five solution areas, namely consolidation, backup, archive, security and content. Our business model covers all five and allows us to offer added value to customers in the delivery of complete end-to-end solutions combining hardware, software and services skills.”

Square One is also an enterprise partner and reseller for the international US-based VMware group that provides technology and solutions allowing large companies to grow their computer server power and networks without having to invest in new “boxes” to add capacity.

“We focus on four key aspects of virtualisation, namely server consolidation and containment, business continuity, enterprise desktop and the management and automation of data centres,” says Frutuoso. “This partnership with EMC enhances our ability to offer South African companies turnkey services and solutions in the specialised areas of shared storage and virtualisation.”

As a Velocity^2 partner with EMC, Square One will receive advanced benefits and, within the Velocity^2 Authorised Service Network Programme, will receive advanced technical training from EMC and have access to the EMC proprietary service methodologies and tools.

“This is in line with EMC's drive to offer solutions that meet the increasingly sophisticated requirements of mid-market customers,” said Frutuoso. ”We are now well placed to build ongoing customer relationships with our offering comprising sales and implementation, complemented with ongoing support.”
