Marking Solutions, the recently restructured industrial coding and marking division of Square One Industrial Solutions, has sold the first Solaris eMark laser coding solution in South Africa to Elvin Food & Beverages (Pty) Ltd, a long-standing East London-based manufacturer of a range of naturally fermented grape, apple, spirit, and blended vinegars.
The sale follows a decision by the JSE-listed Square One Solutions Group to extend its industrial coding and marking operation to take advantage of growth opportunities and supply a variety of new coding products and consumables from different suppliers, as well as a range of new service, spares and support models.
Manufactured in Poland, the Solaris eMark offers vector quality permanent coding and marking and will be used to apply batch numbering and “best before” dates on the bottled vinegar production lines at Elvin Food & Beverages.
Solaris is one of a range of new coding and marking products that Square One's Marking Solutions operation is introducing to South Africa following its restructuring.
Andre Louw, account manager at Square One's Eastern Province operation, said the Solaris laser coding equipment offered an affordable solution at a price that ideally suits the return on investment requirements of lower volume production lines. “There are also no consumables costs with laser as opposed to ink-jet solutions and maintenance costs can be budgeted for.”
Louw added that the Solaris can be easily integrated with new and existing production lines as multiple input/output signals and field configurable beam exit direction are standard. A built-in module allows simple local and remote system control via USB, network protocols or WiFi.
The Solaris will code on a range of packaging materials including coated paper or board, PVC, plastics, thermo-sensitive labels, coated metals and bottles or containers moulded from polyethylene terephthalate.
Elvin Food & Beverages has operated since 1964 and also manufactures ranges of cordials, dairy fruit blends, fruit juice concentrates and health drinks.
Square One Marking Solutions has a solid platform in terms of skills, knowledge and experience and, following the restructuring, offers a broad range of product-to-pallet coding and marking solutions supported by advanced financing options and a spread of managed coding services. New agencies and products are being added to the Square One coding operations to provide customers a choice of product, maintenance and support solutions to best meet their particular needs.
