Following the worldwide launch of its eProcess solutions, Staffware has announced that Transco, the owner and operator of Great Britain`s gas distribution network with approximately 20 million consumers, has implemented Staffware`s award-winning eProcess workflow solutions. The gas company is set to increase productivity and improve customer service levels as a direct result of implementing these solutions.
The first of its kind in the utility sector, the system enables Transco to respond to queries and complaints from its gas shipper customers in a more efficient and timely manner.
"The 2,000 seat installation at Transco is one of a number of contracts the company has won as part of its Staffware Enterprise Partnership (StEP) Program," says Mark Ehmke, Managing Director of Staffware South Africa, which recently launched its eProcess solutions locally.
"The Staffware web-enabled query handling solution is being implemented across Transco to improve key relationships with its shipper customers by encouraging self-service," he explains.
"We are essentially adopting Staffware to enable us to improve the service we offer our shippers," says Angela Sadler, programme manager, Shipper Services, Transco.
"The use of the Transco network by independent organisations makes it necessary for large amounts of information to be transferred, processed and made available by different parties. For instance, shippers need to confirm their supply points, make gas nominations and flexibility bids. Staffware`s Web-enabled query handling solution will enable Transco shippers to input and check on-line any queries it may have," adds Sadler.
The integration of Staffware and Internet related technologies at Transco will form the underlying infrastructure for the Shipper services department and its interactions with other Transco operations, greatly improving the way it carries out its core business.
Anticipated benefits for Transco include:
Reduced requirements for manual intervention
Transco will be able better to understand customer needs and improved service offerings
On-line customer self service via a Web browser interface
Improved organisational productivity through the rationalisation of processes within Transco
Streamlined working through the automation of existing business processes between Transco and its shippers via Internet based solutions
John O`Connell, Chair and CEO, Staffware states: "Staffware`s eProcess web-enabled query handling solution provides a complete business fit at Transco, by giving it the required level of management control and visibility. eProcess allows Transco to transform relationships with its distributors as well as stimulating new working business practices."

Transco
Transco is responsible for ensuring that gas is delivered to its 20 million consumers around the country safely and efficiently. Transco is a part of BG Group, and in the autumn is planning to demerge to form a separate company.
Transco was a major player in the drive to open up competition in gas supply. In 1990, large industrial consumers were able to choose their own gas supplier. In 1992, smaller industrial consumers were allowed to select a supplier other than British Gas, and in 1996 a pilot for domestic competition took place in the south west of England. By the end of 1998 all 19.5 million consumers were able to choose their own supplier.
