Starboard targets SMEs with storage architecture
StorageReview.com notes.
Newly released AC72 models feature up to 33% greater capacity and 100% more read and write solid state drive (SSD) cache. Starboard Storage's Mixed-workload, Application-Crafted Storage Tiering (MAST) architecture offers hybrid storage systems, which virtualise SSD resources for performance, deliver a single pool of storage resources, and support protocols including CIFS, NFS, Fibre Channel and iSCSI.
The new AC45 comes standard with the SSD Accelerator Tier, 12TB of storage capacity and built-in 1Gb networking.
The AC72 and AC45 use a single-level cell (SLC) SSD performance tier along with SAS hard drives in a hybrid flash set-up, Search Storage says.
The AC45 ships standard with four Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports for NAS and iSCSI, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 8Gbps Fibre Channel connectivity is optional.
Target workloads include Microsoft applications, virtualised servers and remote disaster recovery sites. The operating system handles thin provisioning, thin conversion, replication, snapshots, clones and space reclamation.
The AC Series' capacity can be expanded on-the-fly with automatic load balancing across new drives as they are added, TimesUnion.com states.
Drive speeds and capacities can be mixed and matched within the Starboard Storage AC Series. Performance and capacity are expanded as drive shelves and drives are added.
