SSAB Tunnplat AB, located in Borl"ange, Sweden, has signed for IFS Applications in an order amounting to approximately SEK 10 million. The company, which produces extra and ultra high-tensile steel, will utilise IFS Applications in its extensive maintenance operations.
SSAB is in the process of changing its maintenance operations in order to increase productivity in its existing facility. A critical element in this project is the introduction of a modern user-friendly maintenance solution. The solution includes modules for scheduling acute and preventive maintenance, workshop scheduling and document management.
Johan Eriksson, maintenance manager at SSAB, commented: "We intend to increase our focus on quality, security of delivery and service to become global leaders with respect to extra and ultra high-tensile steel. One of our most stringent demands is that the solution be easy to use, since 2 500 employees at SSAB in Borl"ange will utilise the solution.
"IFS` role-based portals are extremely user-friendly, which was a major factor in favour of IFS."
CIO at SSAB, Jan-Erik Pihl, added: "Since we plan to replace our mainframe-based administrative systems step-by-step over the coming two to three years, IFS component-based architecture is an ideal fit. It is easy to integrate the IFS solution with other systems and then add components from IFS Applications at a later date. Another crucial factor in IFS` favour was its willingness to undertake a total commitment and assume responsibility for the software and implementation via its own consultants."
