Stereoscopic 3D NFL game aired
3Ality Digital Systems and graphics vendor Chyron supplied key production technology for the 3D broadcast of and NFL game, which Verizon Fios say is the first televised NFL game in stereoscopic 3D, says Multichannel.
The game, the New York Giants versus New England Patriots, delivered to Verizon Fios TV customers with 3D-capable TV sets in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, was shot using 3Ality Digital's camera rigs.
3D graphics for the game, produced by Verizon's Fios1 channel, were created using Chyron's HyperX3 technology.
ITV under threat
Fresh fears have been raised about the future of independent TV news and current affairs in Wales after culture secretary Jeremy Hunt signalled his intention to allow ITV to ditch its commitment to regional news, Wales Online reports.
Hunt confirmed he is to persevere with a policy of introducing a network of smaller, city-based local broadcasters, freeing ITV up from its obligation to provide a Wales-wide service.
Labour AM Alun Davies said he was appalled by Hunt's approach and said it posed a serious threat to broadcasting and democracy in Wales.

According to the company's blog post, it believes that "the mobile space is the biggest opportunity in live video, and that being tethered to a computer has held a lot of people back."
The company previously released an iPhone application that allows users to receive broadcasts from its service and is planning to roll out a live broadcasting app for the iPhone in the near future.
