Sterling Integrator from Datacentrix wins computing award

By Datacentrix Holdings
Johannesburg, 13 Jan 2004

Sterling Commerce, a provider of business integration solutions, has been presented with the award for best `Enterprise Product of the Year` at the 2003 Computing Industry Awards for Excellence, the `Oscars` of the UK IT Industry. Datacentrix is the sole distributor for Sterling Commerce in SA.

Sterling Commerce received the prestigious accolade for its advanced business process management (BPM) and integration platform, Sterling Integrator, which is currently used by more than 450 businesses worldwide to help cut costs, accelerate response times and achieve tighter business collaboration within the supply chain.

According to Johan Dippenaar, product manager at Datacentrix, the architecture delivers two vital benefits: it addresses today`s integration needs while simplifying the path to new standards and technologies; and is designed to reduce scarce IT resources needed to maintain and expand e-business infrastructure.

Recognised as the `benchmark for excellence` by the IT industry, the Computing Awards for Excellence rewards high standards of achievement in individuals, companies and products.

Dave Robinson, VP EMEA, Sterling Commerce, says: "Sterling Integrator meets the market need for a scalable, modular integration solution that can bring together business applications, people and external partners on a single platform and currently benefits more than 450 enterprises and their trading partners. Receiving such a prestigious award is an excellent endorsement for Sterling Commerce and its technology."

Sterling Integrator, launched across EMEA in October 2002, provides businesses with both enterprise application integration (EAI) and B2B integration and includes both BPM and systems management capability. Built on a core, standards-based business process engine, Sterling Integrator allows organisations to achieve end-to-end visibility across their internal and external business processes, working with existing systems and paving the way for future application integration technology adoption.

Version 3.0 of Sterling Integrator was released at the end of October 2003.

Following significant research and development by Sterling Commerce, the new advanced solution provides enhanced flexibility that will drive integration technology choices and accelerate the delivery of real business benefits to customers.

According to Chris Hayes, Solutions Manager, EMEA at Sterling Commerce: "This latest release of Sterling Integrator demonstrates Sterling Commerce`s continued commitment to developing solutions that solve our customers` business integration problems, easily and swiftly."

The Computing Awards for Excellence event, attended by leading members of the IT community, corporate business and government, held special significance this year as Computing celebrated its 30th anniversary.
