StorageTek has announced availability of its enhanced StorageTek Array Manager software for storage management, bundled with its OPENstorage 9153 Raid disk array. Customers with growing application storage pools can now add disk capacity, change assigned RAID levels and tune performance in realtime without disrupting their network.
The StorageTek Array Manager enhancements are available at no additional cost with the OPENstorage 9153 Raid subsystem, which supports fibre channel host connectivity for immediate storage area network (SAN) deployment. It is targeted for availability for Windows NT, Sun and HP platforms in fourth quarter.
These new features will enhance the flexibility of current customers.
StorageTek`s OPENstorage 9153 disk system is a high-performance Raid disk subsystem that addresses storage requirements for Windows NT and Unix users. It is aimed at data-intensive applications such as Internet services, ERP and data warehousing. It is also suitable for incorporation in a SAN.
"With the current data explosion, flexible and efficient storage networks are increasingly important to customers across all industries," says Mark Davis, VP of marketing for StorageTek`s Multiplatform Business Group. "These new software management capabilities provide customers with continuous data availability and greater control over how data is stored. It is our goal to make information more powerful for our customers - these enhancements do that by increasing the availability, performance, and online manageability of business-critical information assets."
