StorageTek, represented locally by JSE Securities Exchange-listed MGX Holdings, has joined forces with LSI Logic Storage Systems to expand its line of co-branded storage solutions by introducing the newest addition to StorageTek`s D-series storage arrays, the D173 entry-level open systems disk subsystem.
LSI Logic Storage Systems is a US-based supplier of storage solutions, while StorageTek specialises in high-performance, digitised data storage.
This announcement comes just two months after the companies announced an alliance to provide a powerful alternative in the open systems storage market and introduced the co-branded D178 disk storage system with SANtricity Storage Manager software.
"StorageTek is committed to delivering another outstanding storage solution to users through its alliance with LSI Logic Storage Systems," says Graeme Smith, product marketing manager, Storage Solutions at MGX.
"The D173, which can be upgraded to its co-branded D178 enterprise level open system disk solution offers outstanding price and performance and is managed by SANtricity software, which offers customers excellent micro- and macro-systems and data management."
The co-branded open-attach D173 disk subsystem can easily be upgraded to the D178 and gives users the flexibility to migrate from entry-level to business-level STET. The D173, which is available with both 10 and 14 drive enclosures and supports a current maximum capacity of 5.4 TB, also offers users the flexibility to seamlessly scale from entry-level to enterprise-level capacity.
The compact, scalable solution gives small and medium businesses, remote users and departmental level customers extensive features and functionality for dedicated storage environments, and for storage area networks (SANs). The D173 also offers "pay as you grow" options through its upgrade capability to fully protect legacy equipment investments and uses fabric log-in support and storage partitioning to provide users full heterogeneous support for SANs.
"In addition, D173 offers cost-savings in floor space because of its compact design and outstanding investment protection from its scalable upgrade capability," says Smith.
