Stretching value wide - Sahara's new 19-inch wide LCD monitor

Johannesburg, 07 Dec 2006

Sahara Computers, a local supplier of information and communications technology, has announced the availability of its 19-inch wide-screen liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor to the local digital lifestyle market.

The product is representative of Sahara's response to the increase in user demand for wide-screen monitor technology.

It is specifically designed for interactive use and boasts exceptional levels of performance with a 5ms response time and higher refresh rate.

The 19-inch wide TFT LCD monitor offers a display area of 408.2 x 255.2 with a picture resolution of 1 440 x 900.

Other key technical specifications include a display colour of 16.2m without any distortion of colour or clarity, a horizontal frequency of 80KHz and vertical frequency of between 57 - 75Hz.

This powerful refresh rate and no risk of delay in picture-to-screen display with a dot pitch (in mm) of 0.284 x 0.284 (high pixel rate and resolution) makes this new offering from Sahara one of the market leaders in wide-screen LCD technology.

"Consumers will assess the quality of images that are presented on the screen before making a decision to invest in LCD infrastructure. A wide TFT screen and a fast response time are certainly noteworthy features but, alone, do not define the overall value this technology can offer," says Gary Naidoo, deputy MD of Sahara.

"What really distinguishes this LCD as the latest in Sahara's extensive digital lifestyle solutions is that it allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously and features a 16:10 wide aspect ratio for users.

"This means that users get to see the whole picture in full screen size and are not frustrated by a segmented view. There is immediate value when using the product in a multimedia digital environment," Naidoo continues.

"With all this technical information in mind, this monitor offers everything that a digital enthusiast would expect from a standard strong LCD solution. It is a powerful offering that accurately reflects Sahara's acclaimed focus on quality, affordability and accessibility in the supply of digital lifestyle technology," adds Naidoo.

The Sahara 19-inch wide LCD monitor is currently being made available via Sahara's extensive network of national resellers and is expected to retail at R2 249 VAT incl.
