Striata unveils multi-channel application architecture

Johannesburg, 25 Mar 2003

The E-mail Corporation has unveiled an enhanced, multi-channel application architecture, to coincide with the launch of Striata, its new corporate identity.

Says Michael Wright, CEO of Striata: "The new brand identity, and the launch of our expanded product architecture, marks the progression of a specialist e-mail application into a multi-channel messaging platform. We have developed our application platform beyond e-mail distribution, to include messaging capabilities across SMS, fax, Web and other electronic channels."

Striata's enhanced product set consists of three key electronic communication applications: Striata eBilling, Striata eMarketing and Striata eContact.

Says Wright: "Our spearhead product, Striata eBilling, has achieved significant adoption rates through high volume billers such as Standard Bank, MultiChoice and American Express Cards."

The Striata application platform creates a central funnel through which all company-customer contact takes place. Says Wright: "Not only does it contain detailed reporting, MIS (Management Information Systems), UAS (User Admin Systems), and robust delivery gateways, but the platform also provides Web-interfaces into systems, allowing administrators to gain a single, consistent, and consolidated view of all customer communications."

The Striata application platform has been ported to the primary operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Solaris (Sun and Intel), and FreeBSD. The solution can be deployed on a client's infrastructure, or run through an application service provider (ASP).

The modular architecture allows solutions to be customised according to the client's functional requirements. Says Wright: "This flexibility ensures the software is retroactively compatible, and does not limit future development of new application modules."

Development tools included in the offering enable users to write specific applications and calling-defined APIs to integrate with existing systems and infrastructure. Web-services allow loosely coupled distributed solution interfacing.

One of the most innovative elements of Striata's application suite, is the prepaid credits system on which pricing is calculated. This approach means Striata's product set can be utilised by small businesses to deliver low volumes of monthly invoices by e-mail, right up to the large financial services organisations using the application for all their electronic messaging requirements.

Says Wright: "Our pricing approach is aimed at enabling small businesses to only pay for the portion of the solution they use, while big business can benefit from purchasing high volumes of credits at a lower per unit cost. Everyone wins. "
