Stroud & Swindon opts for Tally`s market leading printers

Johannesburg, 12 May 2000

Stroud & Swindon Building Society has just completed the installation of an order for almost 80 Tally T5023 passbook printers for its network of 28 branches located across Southern and Southeast England. All units were pre-configured by Tally prior to dispatch to ensure total compatibility with the existing software and network and provided a total "out-of-the- box" solution.

"Our existing installation of passbook printers were increasingly falling short of our stringent quality control standards so needed replacement," explained Heather Flewelling, the User Support Team Leader at Stroud & Swindon Building Society. "After investigation, Tally`s recently introduced T5023 proved to be the ideal replacement for this important aspect of our business. Several big improvements had been made including the addition of a floating flatbed and new sensors that shift all passbooks to a fixed right edge rather than centring them. This means we can now process both single and multi-page passbooks without any likelihood of skewing or possible misfeed. The T5023 also provides greater flexibility in typeface choice and the new ribbons achieve exceptionally consistent ink transfer. Since installing them the quality control problems have now been completely overcome and we anticipate that this will continue to be the case."

Richard Fearon, Business Development Director at Venture Computer added: "We have already won several significant contracts in the financial and sectors, both in the UK and overseas, with the T5023 which is proving itself a solid performer in this sector."

Tally`s T5023 is a robust, 230cps, 24-pin user-friendly Serial-Impact flatbed printer. It is ideal for rapidly processing a wide range of media from account passbooks and cheques through to A4 forms, because of advanced features including Automatic Paper Alignment and Automatic Gap Adjustment.

Connectivity options include Serial SR232, Ethernet, -directional parallel, Current-loop and even a second Serial interface for simple automatic printer sharing between two separate users, particularly useful in `front office` environments. Windows 95/98 and NT drivers are standard and a host of Windows Operating System Architecture utilities are available upon request. Emulations supported include several Olivetti emulations, Epson ANSI as well as both IBM 4722 and IBM ProPrinter.
