Successful Baan implementation for Hall Longmore improves business practices

Johannesburg, 02 Dec 1998
Murray and Roberts subsidiary, Hall Longmore, has recently completed a successful implementation of Baan IV ERP integrated software. This system provides an excellent business solution for all of the company`s operations.

Hall Longmore, major manufacturer of steel pipes in South Africa, was partnered and assisted on the implementation by Brainware ERP Solutions.

Alf None, Managing Director of Hall Longmore, said that the benefits of the new system will result in significantly improved accuracy on product costing, better customer service and increased control of the manufacturing process.

Said Jane Thomson of Brainware ERP Solutions, "We made extensive use of Baan`s strategic business modeller: the Dynamic Enterprise Modeller. (DEM). The unique advantages of this are rapid implementation and automatic reconfiguration of the software when business processes change".

None adds, "The improvements are critical to the success of the major capital investment of R70 million made by Hall Longmore in new manufacturing and plant technology. They were made possible by Brainware`s intimate knowledge and understanding of the Baan ERP software, together with their ability to guide and advise us in best business practices. This was invaluable to us in achieving this success."

The implementation of all modules of the Baan IV software was completed in six months.

The system has been implemented on IBM RISC server, supplied and maintained by FGH, of the Faratech Group. FGH are IBM Value Added Reseller (VAR).
