Summit TV to provide live company results

Summit TV will use e-mail and SMS to notify viewers of the live broadcast of company results, its new offering being launched this month.

Summit`s channel head Vernon Matzopoulos says the station will target over 12 500 DStv decoders installed in businesses around the country.

"We are really looking to target the analysts, fund managers, brokers, traders and dealers who will be using this kind of information."

Matzopoulos says will then be sent out to inform viewers when the broadcasts will take place.

"We will establish a registered database to which we`ll send out e-mail alerts the day before and SMSs about an hour before the results. Daily schedules will also be published on the channel, in Business Day, on business Web sites and on SENS." (SENS is the JSE`s news announcement .)

There will also be the option for viewers to e-mail questions during the presentation.

"This feature will be particularly useful for fund managers from Cape Town who are not able to attend a company`s results in Johannesburg. Using e-mail, they will still be able to send in their queries and have them answered," Matzopoulos says.

Companies will be offered the choice of broadcasting from their corporate headquarters, or from a central facility. They will also be able to choose to Webcast the event.

Matzopoulos says that while the daytime broadcasts will initially only be used for company results, the service may be expanded to cover other breaking news.
