Sun Services iForce Technical Symposium drives channel upskilling

Johannesburg, 07 Nov 2003

Sun Microsystems is hosting a Services iForce Technical Symposium (SiTS) for the technical staff for its partner community, demonstrating its firm commitment to skills and knowledge excellence in its reseller channel.

The event will take place from 24 to 28 November at Sun's Technical Development Centre in Midrand.

"The symposium is geared at equipping Sun resellers with necessary skills to support Sun products and technologies within Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa," says Jos Nickmans, channel development manager at Sun Microsystems SA.

He notes that increasing demand for reliable and affordable business technology has resulted in tremendous growth of Sun's reseller network. "In addition, new technologies are introduced at a steady pace owing to the research and development efforts at Sun Microsystems.

"These factors require focused efforts to ensure that all partners are up to date with latest technology. SiTS provides resellers and partners with an opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills, which can be applied in customer environments to improve service and even drive new sales," says Nickmans.

Based on Sun's worldwide employee technical conference, the event will consist of 34 one-hour seminar sessions per day on topics ranging from Sun's service strategy, to remote monitoring tools and applications and best practices.

Delegates will also be given the opportunity to reproduce complex problems faced by customers in various hands-on lab sessions, while papers presented by speakers selected from across the EMEA region will complete the event agenda.
