SunGard Availability Services launches next-generation SunGard Paragon information availability application

Planning and management software tool marks second anniversary with new, robust alerting and messaging capabilities
Wayne, 05 Oct 2005

SunGard Availability Services today announced the next generation of SunGard Paragon, its industry-leading software application for creating and implementing information availability plans and managing related programs.

"The SunGard Paragon Information Availability software tool helps C-level management and IT professionals to identify the most cost-effective business strategies for maintaining uninterrupted access to their mission-critical data and systems," said Ann Pickren, senior vice-president, software products at SunGard Availability Services.

"SunGard Paragon not only assists in the development of information availability plans, but it can also help to manage the programs and processes that companies rely on to keep systems up and running and information available."

With this new release, SunGard Availability Services has expanded SunGard Paragon's notification capabilities with an interactive, intelligent messaging function that automatically sends alerts to user-selected teams of respondents either simultaneously or in a series. Text-to-speech messages can be attached to alerts and different messages can be sent to different sets of personnel as quickly and easily as an alert sent to a single recipient. In addition, Paragon-created alerts and messages can now send follow-on messages to recipients who choose a specific response.

SunGard Paragon Version 2.0 also adds the capability for third-party system management tools to tie into SunGard Paragon's notification capabilities. Alerts sent by SunGard Paragon can travel to system administrators via e-mail, landline phone, cellphone call, pager message or smart phone. With this added flexibility in sending alerts and messages, SunGard Paragon can help free up critical staff to spend more time responding to and recovering from an incident.

In addition to its new alerting and messaging capabilities, SunGard Paragon can now serve as a portal to enable communications and information exchange throughout any organisation maintaining an information availability program. IT managers can use SunGard Paragon to build distribution lists for reports and updates, and maintain the flexibility to deliver specific messages to tailored recipient lists. SunGard Paragon also offers 40 additional standard reports and new capabilities that let an organisation customise SunGard Paragon screens to suit their business processes and procedures.
