SunGard Availability Services, an operating group of SunGard, announced today the launch of its Archiving Service for Messaging. The new service was developed to help companies meet the stringent regulatory compliance standards facing all U.S. based publicly traded corporations and other regulated entities.
SunGard's Archiving Service for Messaging is especially ideal for financial services organizations that have both financial regulatory and corporate governance policies relating to the archival and management of e-mail records. The service offers customers the tools to help them achieve the compliance demanded by the federal government through a complete suite of managed services.
SunGard Availability Services provides the required hardware, software and network resources, as well as ongoing monitoring and management services to help reduce the demands on a company's in-house IT support staff.
"The compliant retention and management of e-mail records is top of mind for most of our customers," said John Lindeman, vice president, information management product development for SunGard Availability Services. "This service is a major step in helping them achieve their desired level of compliance."
With highly publicized scandals and hefty fines centered around recordkeeping, the pressure is escalating for companies to identify and adopt solutions. "It is imperative for companies to address their e-mail records management now," said Carolyn DiCenzo, research vice president, Gartner. "Waiting could cause an enterprise to be non-compliant with current regulatory requirements."
SunGard's Archiving Service for Messaging provides customers with an industry-leading repository for unchanging content using EMC Centera (Compliance Edition (CE)) and LEGATO's state-of-the-art archiving software, EmailXtender. This integrated solution when combined with SunGard's managed IT services further extends the increasing capabilities of SunGard's digital records management.
Don Swatik, EMC's vice president of global solutions, said, "EMC is committed to delivering suites of modular and proven solutions that enable companies to achieve compliance with all types of regulatory requirements and internal corporate governance policies. SunGard's new service will help organizations manage and store compliance-oriented information based on its classification with integrity, accessibility and confidentiality."
LEGATO EmailXtender integrated with EMC Centera CE is a compelling e-mail archiving and compliance solution for regulated storage environments that are required to comply with federal regulations including SEC Rule 17a4 and Sarbanes-Oxley. EmailXtender makes enterprise e-mail easier to administer and use by automatically moving data off the e-mail message server and into the storage system, capturing and indexing all incoming and outgoing e-mails.
