Addressing the growing trend to mobile computing, Hewlett-Packard has delivered the perfect backup solution with the HP SureStore AutoBackup appliance.
Margie Adam, product manager for Hewlett-Packard PCs at Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of JSE-listed MB Technologies, notes that data loss is always a traumatic event - and that the possibility of this happening is much greater while on the move. "Mobile users are more vulnerable to disastrous data loss than those permanently attached to the network," she says.
To remedy this situation, Hewlett-Packard`s SureStore AutoBackup appliance automatically backs up notebooks as soon as the mobile worker connects to the corporate network, and then routinely backs up according to the schedule prescribed by the user or the network administrator.
"The HP SureStore AutoBackup is a storage server appliance which offers fully-integrated, automated data backup for notebook and network-connected desktop PCs, with simple client disaster recovery, and 24-hour instant access to backups, anywhere in the world," explains Adam. Because recovery is a simple task that can be carried out by even novice users, valuable time and resources of IT staff are conserved, she remarks.
Automation of the backup process also significantly reduces the requirement for end-user or IT intervention, reducing any risk of losing valuable business data.
A single HP SureStore AutoBackup weighs in at a mere 12kg, requires 15 minutes for installation and provides disk-based backup protection for up to 100 PCs. Ultra-low administration results in the ease of use, functionality and a low cost of ownership associated with appliance servers.
"By backing up data in the most efficient way, the SureStore AutoBackup enables remote users to protect and access their data quickly, saving time and money, concludes Adam.
