Survey gauges BC management

Managed IT and advisory service eHosting DataFort is conducting its second survey with the Business Continuity Management Institute to better gauge the maturity levels of business continuity (BC) management in organisations, says Trade Arabia.

The survey will benchmark the BC management levels against global standards and best practices, it says.

The survey targets companies in the Middle East in various sectors such as oil and gas, and IT, banking and finance, services, retail, media, entertainment and utilities across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Jordan.

Mac Disk Drill public beta released

CleverFiles Software has released a public beta of its Mac recovery software, Disk Drill, writes MacNN.

Disk Drill can recover lost data and deleted files and offers its Recovery Vault data loss prevention feature which tracks data constantly, providing more info for the software when recovering a lost file.

Disk Drill requires Mac OS X 10.5 and is 64-bit compatible. The beta version is free and non-expiring. CleverFiles is offering free lifetime licences to all users that provide active feedback during the beta test.

Canada buys BC firm

Bell Canada has purchased the division of Hypertec Availability Services, reports The Montreal Gazette.

Hypertec is a provider of outsourced data centres, disaster recovery and BC services. The purchase will help Bell provide services to businesses, such as cloud computing, Bell says.

“Our new Montr'eal data centre will provide Bell corporate and government customers with co-location, managed hosting and next-generation cloud computing services, such as software-as-a-service and hosted unified communications,” St'ephane Boisvert, president of Bell Business Markets said in a statement.
