The e-commerce and IT industries are being bombarded with new laws. These include:
* The Electronic Communications and Transactions (ECT) Act;
* The Promotion of Access to Information Act; and
* The Regulation of Interception of Communications Act.
Many Web sites, ISPs and IT professionals complain that compliance is costly and government failed to consult them properly on these new laws.
When the ECT Act was released more than six weeks ago, Buys Inc Attorneys and Trust Online (Pty) Ltd conducted a survey of 700 South African B2C sites - less than 1% of the South African Web sites were compliant!
SASurvey now assist Buys Inc and Trust Online in a follow-up survey to determine compliance, views and opinions on the ECT Act and other laws. It is being distributed to hundreds of business and IT professionals nationwide. No personal information will be disclosed to any third-party, and those completing this survey will receive the results free of charge.
The survey is available at: http://www.sasurvey.co.za.
The results of the previous e-commerce and IT survey is available at: http://www.buys.co.za/Documents/ECT%20Bill%20compliance%20survey.doc
A survey winner will be chosen from completed surveys received. The winner will receive free services from a leading Internet law firm to the extent that their Web site will be rendered fully ECT compliant. Trust Online shall award the winner a free Compliance Certificate.
