Swedish Civil Aviation Authority upgrades, extends use of IFS Applications

Johannesburg, 03 Sep 2002

IFS has signed an agreement valued in excess of SEK 15 million to upgrade and extend the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority`s (SCAA) administrative system. A new version of the financials software will be implemented, and the extended use of IFS Applications means that service personnel at several airports in Sweden will use IFS`s service management software for spare parts logistics as well as the planning, administration and invoicing of maintenance and service.

The SCAA has approximately 4 000 employees and revenue exceeding SEK 5 billion. It operates 19 airports and is responsible for air traffic control in Sweden. The SCAA, via the Aviation Safety Authority, is also responsible for monitoring the safety and airworthiness of aircraft used in civil aviation. Furthermore, operations include extensive real estate management, service and project management.

The SCAA has used administrative systems from IFS since 1995. The upgraded solution will streamline administration by enabling different business processes to collaborate and integrate better. Among other things, it will simplify the handling of 140 000 supplier invoices each year by using electronic invoice management. Paper-based copies will no longer need to be sent between various departments. Instead scanned invoices can be matched against purchase orders and approved via computers.

"IFS`s vision is to have the most satisfied customers in our industry. The continued confidence shown in us by the SCAA indicates that we are on the right track," said G"osta Blomqvist, president of IFS Sweden. A total of 1 500 users at 38 different locations will be using the new system. The solution will be operated by @IFS, which delivers ASP services in the Nordic region. Implementation has commenced, with the complete solution due to go live early next year.
