Sybase kicked off its annual TechWave User Training and Solutions Conference in San Diego, California, last week with a series of new product releases that underscore the significant progress the company has made across its business units.
Sybase has continued to make strong technical advances in mobile and vertical commerce - referred to as m-business and v- business respectively - and reinforce its reputation as an innovator in the enterprise software market.
"These advances demonstrate that Sybase has gained momentum against a broad array of software competitors and continues to solidify its status as a top-tier e-business infrastructure provider," says Julie Tomlinson, Sybase SA marketing manager, who attended the conference.
The launch of new products and solutions, partnerships, customer wins, awards, development tools and developer communities - announced to more than 2 500 customers, partners and developers from around the world - highlighted the company's commitment to delivering the right products and solutions to key markets.
"Sybase's e-business, m-business and v- business offerings deliver on the promise of the Internet by meeting the specific needs of individual markets and also allowing any time, anywhere transactions," adds Tomlinson.
Highlights of the TechWave conference included:
* The launch of several new products and product versions, including EA Server 4.0, and beta versions of Sybase Communications e- Business Solution, SQL Anywhere Studio 8.0, PowerDesigner and PowerJ.
* Nearly 300 technical sessions.
* Keynote speech by John Chen, Sybase chairman, president and CEO.
* Demonstrations of new and current technology leading the industry.
* Three new DBA Assistant Services.
"TechWave has highlighted Sybase's commitment to innovation and showcased our expertise in core and emerging technologies, specifically enterprise portals, mobile and wireless technologies, and integration tools," notes Tomlinson. "At its centre, TechWave provides business leaders with a forum to learn to leverage Sybase's new and emerging technologies to improve their bottom line."
On the e-business front, Sybase has launched a new version of its flagship application server EAServer 4.0, as well as beta versions of its portal product, the streamlined EP - Express Edition, and development tools PowerDesigner and PowerJ. In addition, Sybase is announcing a service programme that enables DBAs to make effective use of Sybase ASE with three new DBA Assistant Services.
Sybase subsidiary iAnywhere Solutions announced the beta availability of SQL Anywhere Studio 8.0 and the general availability of Mobile Device Manager for m- business.
Sybase also announced new products, partnerships and customers in several key verticals - financial services, telecommunications and new media. They include: the beta availability of Sybase Communications e-Business Solution, a portal solution for the telecommunications and communications service provider industry; the integration of New Era of Networks products and solutions into the portfolio of Financial Fusion, a Sybase subsidiary; the availability of GlobalFIX LE, which offers connectivity to the financial services industry; and an enhanced emphasis on the new media vertical.
