Sybase intros deep mobile analytics

Sybase has unveiled Sybase Operator Analytics 365 software for mobile operators, to provide them with deep analytics on billions of records in seconds, states Enterprise Network Planet.

The analytics can potentially save operator costs and head off problems quicker by giving earlier insight as to where there might be bottlenecks.

"If you've got tens of millions or hundreds of millions of messages every day, a tiny fraction of those not being delivered is a big hit on your customer service reps," says Dan Auker, senior manager for worldwide marketing and business solutions at Sybase.

PivotLink adds apps to SaaS BI

PivotLink is expanding its line of on-demand business intelligence (BI) software with pre-built sales, marketing and human resource management analytical applications targeted towards business users, writes Channel Web.

With its ReadiMetrix applications, PivotLink is trying to broaden use of its products beyond developers and analysts to line-of-business managers and information workers. That's a goal nearly every BI software vendor has tried to achieve with mixed success.

"We call it 'insight-as-a-service'," says PivotLink CEO Quentin Gallivan. He argues the new self-service applications could be implemented and generating reports in days instead of weeks or months.
