Sybase intros mobile platform
Sybase has introduced the Sybase Mobility Platform, a suite of enterprise mobility tools it claims delivers the most expansive framework of best-in-class products to help companies transform the way they work, writes V3.co.uk.
Announced during Sybase's Analyst Day at the New York Stock Exchange, Sybase Mobility Platform consists mostly of existing Sybase mobile products, brought together into a single suite for the first time.
"Now enterprises can transform their business through enterprise-wide mobility solutions that better connect customers and better enable employees," said Sybase senior vice-president Gary Kovacs.
MS unveils Windows Server AppFabric RC
Microsoft has unveiled the release candidate (RC) of Windows Server AppFabric and a beta release of BizTalk Server 2010, states eWeek.
Burley Kawasaki, director for developer platform product management at Microsoft, says the final version of Windows Server AppFabric is expected in June and BizTalk Server 2010, which supports Windows Server AppFabric, is scheduled to release to manufacturing in the third quarter of 2010.
"The role of application infrastructure has become a mission-critical function in all types of businesses today, which creates demand for high-performing, connected systems and applications," said Abhay Parasnis, GM of the business platform division at Microsoft.
Oracle acquires apps firm
Oracle will acquire Secerno, which makes firewall products for databases that protect against hackers and data breaches, says BusinessWeek.
The purchase price was not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close at the end of next month, according to Oracle.
Secerno makes a series of hardware and software products called DataWall, which control how information in databases is accessed. DataWall monitors a database and blocks unauthorised access.
