Sybase's e-business platform, its enterprise portal, has been named as a leader in the portal market in the 2001 Portal Products Magic Quadrant, recently released by Gartner. Gartner's assessment of portal vendors is based on completeness of each vendor's vision, and the ability to execute that vision.
"The listing confirms Sybase's position as an e-business infrastructure provider," says Julie Tomlinson, Sybase SA marketing manager. "The purpose of the Gartner portal product Magic Quadrant is to correctly position vendors in the crowded enterprise portal product market, and attempt to provide a structured framework for IT decision-makers looking to make informed decisions about portal technology implementations." She adds that Sybase's 17-year history in enterprise integration has become a key differentiator in helping propel Sybase to a leading position, and foster growth and global adoption of Sybase Enterprise Portal. Sybase's complete integration capabilities and open architecture have created a solution that is open and scalable, offering a fully integrated and seamless view of disparate systems for the business-to-business (B2B), business-to-customer (B2C) and business-to-employee (B2E) portals. Sybase was the first company to sell a fully functional, enterprise-class portal solution. Corporations around the world are adopting the solution to create more unified business experiences for their various constituents.
Sybase Enterprise Portal customers include global financial service companies, healthcare companies, government agencies, as well as telecommunications and other markets.
Sybase recently announced the availability of Sybase Enterprise Portal - Express Edition 2.0, which enables enterprises to deploy a personalised, common interface to multiple applications and information sources, with single sign-on security.
Express Edition 2.0 is a new offering within Sybase's Enterprise Portal product family, addressing customer demand for an easy-to-implement, secure portal presentation layer, while providing an enterprise-class framework for adding advanced functionality and integration over time.
"Sybase is leading the enterprise portal market by delivering on a solid vision and strategy with the industry's first comprehensive e-Business platform," says Tomlinson. "While it is still early in this new market cycle, and smaller players have entered the market with limited portal components, Sybase is focused on building a comprehensive portal solution that reduces time and cost of deployment. Looking forward, we plan on continuing to penetrate the enterprise portal market by providing new functionality and services including extensions for wireless users and B2B marketplaces."
