Enterprise infrastructure and integration software company, Sybase SA, today announced that SA will become the fourth continent in the world to launch Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) 15, the mission-critical data management system for taming the data explosion.
Sybase will launch ASE15 at the International Sybase User Group (ISUG) this year, during which it will share data management trends and developments with end-users in the African market. The events will be held in Kenya, Johannesburg and Cape Town on 11, 13 and 14 October respectively.
"South Africa has one of the most advanced information technology sectors of all emerging market economies and its development is in many respects on par with that of First World countries," says Johan
Reynders, general manager at Sybase SA. "It is therefore fitting that we mirror the launch events hosted in Beijing, New York and London and introduce ASE15 to the local IT community."
According to Reynders, ISUG is the user group for Sybase database products and tools, serving thousands of users in more than 20 countries around the world. Its members' interests cover all aspects of system development and operation, from system analysis and design to maintenance, warehousing, and the Web.
ISUG's mission is to serve the Sybase user community by acting as an information channel, an advocate for user issues, and as a force that helps to determine the product directions of Sybase.
Due to the fact that the ISUG conference is also being used as the launchpad for ASE15, renowned international guest speakers from Sybase, Rob Verschoor, Ian Thain and Dorus Kruse will present ASE15's unique security options and a host of other proven new features that boost performance while reducing operational costs and risk. Additionally, they will introduce ways companies can exploit new technologies such as grids and clusters, service-oriented architectures, and real-time messaging.
"Sybase ASE15 has been dramatically enhanced to deliver capabilities urgently needed by enterprises today and lay the long-term foundation for strategic agility and continuing innovation in mission-critical environments," says Reynders.
Those interested in finding out more about attending the ISUG events, should call Valenesse Strombeck on (011) 804 3740 or e-mail ase15@sybase.co.za.
The agenda for the ISUG events will consist of an executive briefing on the launch of ASE15 in the morning followed by an overview of ISUG and its activities. After lunch technical presentations will take place which cover security and encryption, Sybase workspace, PocketBuilder and in-depth technical detail on ASE15 as the next-generation RDBMS.
Sybase SA is the sole African representative of Sybase Inc (USA), one of the largest global independent software companies, and has offices across the continent. Sybase's open architecture solutions provide the data management and mobility necessary to create the unwired enterprise.
