Symetrix Business Continuity Services (SBCS) and SafeGuard iT, a joint venture between the AST Group and UK-based Guardian iT, have joined hands to offer the enterprise a business continuity and disaster recovery solution to protect its mission-critical data.
According to the terms of the agreement, SBCS offers its data mirroring solutions, network technology, skills and knowledge base in this arena to ensure the effective implementation of the solution.
SafeGuard iT, in turn, provides high availability computer rooms from its purpose-built disaster recovery and business continuity centres to host customers' duplicated data, which can then be connected to hot standby computers and infrastructure should a disaster strike. The SafeGuard iT solution includes office workplace and call centre agent recovery positions.
David Sack, manager at SBCS, says: "The agreement is mutually beneficial as both parties complement each other in terms of knowledge sharing. We have the knowledge and know-how in terms of hot replication consulting, and SafeGuard iT provides state-of-the art computer rooms to host our solution, as well as the wider business continuity solutions."
SBCS has experience in implementing disaster recovery solutions for local and international industries. The company comprises of skilled engineers with consulting expertise in terms of performing business analysis, performance impact analysis and in contingency planning.
According to Bernard Vertenten, general manager at SafeGuard iT: "This joint working arrangement is mutually beneficial as it complements the strengths of both organisations offering the local market with business continuity solutions, products and services which is on par with worldwide trends."
Sack concludes: "More businesses are realising that it is more cost-effective to implement a hot replication solution, than wasting revenue on lost server downtime which results in a decrease in the productivity of the company. This partnership guarantees that a backup site is available and a customer's data is readily accessible should a disaster occur."
