Johannesburg, 01 Jun 2007

Cape-based Synergy Computing was named South African Reseller Partner of the Year at the recent annual conference of business intelligence software vendor Cognos held in Florida, USA.

According to Christo Bredenkamp, Synergy Computing managing director, the award is an achievement which affirms the company's strategy of focusing on bringing the advantages of business intelligence solutions based on Cognos technology to South African corporates.

"This is clear evidence that Synergy Computing is seen as a leader in the field of providing effective business intelligence solutions in the local market. We have enjoyed a relationship in excess of 20 years with Cognos, one which has had mutual benefits through the years."

Mel Zeledon, senior vice-president, global alliances, Cognos, notes the relevance of partners to the vendor's business model. "Cognos offers global reach and leading solutions enabled by a broad ecosystem of partners. Together, we provide the products, services and technology to help customers drive performance management, lower implementation risk and generate better profitability."

He adds that the Cognos Global Partner Awards underscore its commitment to the long-term success of the global partner network across various industries, applications and geographic locations.

"Bredenkamp and his team in Cape Town have not only built a good and sustainable business for their shareholders, but have done a great job of ensuring that Synergy Computing has been and will remain an important part of the Cognos partner ecosystem in southern Africa," says Cognos South Africa managing director, David McWilliam.

Continuing, Bredenkamp says Synergy Computing will maintain its focus on the Cognos product suite. "As a vendor, Cognos has proven that it is at the forefront of the business intelligence and corporate performance management markets as it approaches the billion dollar turnover mark in an industry valued at $10 million per annum.

"With its research and development strategy continually delivering solutions which businesses in South Africa and globally find relevant, we are confident that in our loyalty to this vendor, we have backed a winner."
