System21 captures SA automotive industry

Johannesburg, 20 May 2002

Enterprise 21, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSE listed EOH, has announced that local leather seat cover manufacturer Automotive Leather Company and Durban-based Aunde CarTrim, recently implemented System21, a fully integrated ERP system to enable the automotive component manufacturer to fully integrate their enterprise and achieve improved process management and organisational efficiencies.

Aunde CarTrim acquired BMW`s trimming division, SA Trim, in March last year. "When we acquired SA Trim, we wanted to make sure that there were no interruptions in supplying seating to BMW in Germany. System21`s provided the solution for integrating all our systems at our plants seamlessly."

Glenda Miles, managing director of Enterprise 21 in South Africa, says: "System21 is an integrated enterprise-wide suite of applications providing information solutions for specific markets such as the food and drink, manufacturing and distribution, automotive, apparel and textile industries. It is a stable technology and providing Aunde CarTrim and Automotive Leather Company with growth and expansion capabilities with the power and flexibility to support e-commerce and core business applications.

"We set-up System21 to suit their unique requirements. For example, the System21 Manufacturing delivers process production methods that can be mixed with schedule driven repetitive and discrete small batch methods as required, giving the right solution to the right situation at all times."

Miles continues that System21 Manufacturing supports every level of Automotive Leather Company and Aunde CarTrim`s manufacturing process, from strategic planning to detailed control on inventory. It provides accurate and flexible reporting, production and product definition, timely planning and scheduling, with precise execution and control.

System21 is a process based system and a very strong financial solution. It provides features such as planning and scheduling enabling Automotive Leather Company and Aunde CarTrim to control their costings in terms of costs for raw material, production and labour.

"System21 is a U.K developed product owned by Geac. However, the suite`s ability to usefully adapt to local market conditions has given Enterprise 21 an unique competitive advantage in the local market. Our turnover has grown by 20% in the last six months," concludes Miles.
