Systems Integration announces strategic partnership with Compaq

Johannesburg, 21 Jul 1999

Systems Integration (SI), leading storage and back-up enterprise solutions specialist, has entered a partnership with Compaq to resell the vendor`s flagship data storage product, StorageWorks, which runs on all operating systems from NT to UNIX.

Says Jack Ward, managing director of Systems Integration: "Data storage has become a high growth sector with many untapped niche markets and we believe that specialisation is essential in order take advantage of opportunities. "The reliance placed on storage by applications such e-commerce, ERP, self serve and relationship management - to name a few - demand that cohesive storage strategies be adopted, providing high availability and service levels." SI`s 11 years of experience in this field places us as market leader. "This partnership with Compaq StorageWorks allows us to leverage our experience with industry leading technology and Storageworks` highly acclaimed Enterprise Network Storage Architecture (ENSA) storage strategy. "Through this development we will increase the scope of our value-added solutions business and partners quite dramatically allowing us to use our wealth of knowledge in the data storage industry to add value to prospective clients."

The Compaq / SI partnership is a synergistic fit as both organisations have skills and experience as well as the necessary products and alliances. Henry Ferreira, Compaq`s channel executive, says, "Systems Integration`s profile and track record as a focused storage integrator was a natural fit for the StorageWorks range. "The sophistication of SAN technology requires a high level of commitment and focus to successfully implement these architectures. "In today`s business climate, making timely decisions depends on access to reliable data.

"Compaq StorageWorks ensures that the right data is available when and where it`s needed, with enterprise storage solutions that deliver limitless capacity, reliability and performance to support the entire enterprise, the flexibility to adapt to changing business, and a planned path which leads to the future," adds Ferreira.

Designed for enterprise applications, StorageWorks RAID Array 8000 and Enterprise Storage Array 12000 solutions are ideal for the most demanding applications.

Concludes Ward, "Our partnership with Compaq has confirmed our specialisation in Storage Area Networks and Fibre Channel. "SI`s further areas of specialisation are in continuos processing, data vaulting, clustering, mirroring, fail-over architectures, high availability storage systems and critical service level support."
