Systems Integration Holdings has embarked on a new specialist technology-distribution that is set to benefit the reseller channel. Channel , a wholly-owned subsidiary of Systems Integration Holdings, will provide superior high technology data storage hardware and management to the reseller channel. Channel data, will commence trading on 1 July 2000.

Jack Ward, managing director of Systems Integration Holdings, comments, "The supply chain in the specialist technology areas such as Storage Area Networking (SAN) requires a unique approach due to the demand for pre-sales, implementing and post sales support by the reseller. With 12 years of experience in data storage, Channel Data is uniquely placed to meet the demands set by the channel."

"It is our intention to provide resellers with sophisticated pre-sales expertise and configuration testing at our sophisticated facilities. This will allow the re-seller to confidently address even the most sophisticated fibre channel-based solutions demanded by their customer," concludes Ward.

Channel Data will continue to distribute commodity storage peripherals and consumables. The new focus provided by Channel Data creates exciting opportunities for the holding company, as it strengthens further the group's position in the South African storage market.

Brian Simpkins, newly appointed managing director of Channel Data, comments, "Channel Data is well positioned to meet the demand for high-level and competitively-priced storage components, coupled with superior pre-sales consulting. The storage market has become increasingly sophisticated and complex, and our long track record as a fully-fledged repair facility positions us to provide the very best integration skills to our channel customers."

"It is no longer acceptable to simply install major storage systems without an understanding of the client's application and strong pre-sales configuration and implementation. Channel Data is also committed to carrying high levels of stock to meet the market's increasing demand," concludes Simpkins.

Channel Data will distribute blue-chip products such as Quantum ATL, Veritas, Benchmark, Ecrix, Exabyte, Overland Data, Procom and fibre channel components to an established and loyal channel, as well continue providing repair services via its experienced and capable repair center to the channel.

Channel Data will be of great benefit to the reseller channel, as it will focus only on relevant issues, at the same time enabling the continual provision of the latest technology developments, including fibre technology.

Systems Integration Holdings will remain the umbrella company for Systems Integration and Channel Data, and will continue to pursue additional storage opportunities in enterprise and e-commerce markets through its two subsidiary companies.
