T-Mobile customer records leaked

A T-Mobile employee has sold millions of customer database records to brokers, leading to the biggest breach ever seen in the UK, reports Dark Reading.

The employee, who no longer works at the mobile service provider, earned substantial sums for selling the records, which were used by rival providers to get customers to switch services, according to the UK Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

T-Mobile says: "Working together, we identified the source of the breach, which led to the ICO conducting an extensive investigation which we believe will lead to a prosecution.”

Yahoo Go closes

Yahoo has decided to shutdown its mobile application service Yahoo Go on 12 January 2010, says PC World.

The mobile application service, released in 2006, was a portal service that allowed users to access Yahoo content including e-mail, contacts, calendar, photos, and search, across multiple devices, including mobile phones, TVs, and PCs.

Yahoo is struggling in an extremely competitive online marketplace with Google and Microsoft chipping away at Yahoo Search's market share, and the company is shedding properties that are past their prime. Last month, Yahoo closed its GeoCities Web-hosting service.

Windows Mobile gets Office 2010

Microsoft has rolled out a public beta of Office Mobile 2010, coinciding with its release of the Office 2010 beta, states PC Mag.

Microsoft says the application will allow users to view and edit their Office documents, use their phones as a PowerPoint presentation aid, and connect with their SharePoint Workspace Mobile accounts.

The application is available for download in the Windows Marketplace for Mobile for Windows Mobile 6.5 phones. Anyone with a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone can download and test the application until 5 April next year.
