Keynote speakers at the Life Expo will highlight the digital revolution and what convergence means for the man in the street.

The event takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre, from 18 to 20 April.

Colin Erasmus, Windows client business group executive at Microsoft SA, will outline how technology is transforming the way users interact with each other and understand the world we live in.

He says his presentation, "The digital revolution has just begun", discusses the way technology is changing the way we share experiences and communicate with the people we care about, the way we preserve memories of past events, the way we access entertainment, the way we learn, and even how we use .

Simply put, technology is transforming the way we interact with each other and understand the world we live in, he notes.

In the near future, computing and software will be available everywhere - throughout the office and the home, in , stores, restaurants, and public spaces, he adds.

"We'll access computing capabilities on a wide range of devices, often taking advantage of nearby displays and projection surfaces. This combination of powerful software running on devices, services running on the Web, and huge amounts of storage available via the Internet will mean all of your information will be instantly accessible."

The second speaker, Jason Lobel, director, media accounts, at Ericsson sub-Saharan Africa, will outline Ericsson's vision for a multimedia future and explain how convergence is enabling an enriched digital experience and a richer lifestyle.

His topic, "A richer lifestyle for all: What convergence means for the man in the street", will discuss the advances in multimedia technology and the convergence of mobile communications, Internet, media and TV.

End-users can look forward to an enriched digital experience and, ultimately, a richer lifestyle, he notes.

Lobel will explain how convergence is creating a whole new world of possibilities for people to enjoy, socialise and consume, as well as make life more convenient and efficient.

The keynote addresses are free, but visitors must register as places are limited.
