Tally appoints new distributor for SA

By Cameo Corporate Communications
Johannesburg, 15 Nov 2001

Tally Printer Corp today announced that following the acquisition of Venture Computer by Lexmark International earlier this year, it intends to move its hardware distribution for SA to a newly created division within Tarsus Technologies from early in 2002.

However, it is intended that the after-sales service of the Tally range of products will continue to be handled by Lexmark South Africa`s fully-owned printer services company, Tech-nique Corporate Services.

"Although we have had a long and very successful relationship with Venture Computer, the current situation precludes us from continuing the status quo," commented Robin Edwardes, MD of Tally UK Ltd.

"With this revised model for the Southern African environment, we are still confident that we will be able to offer the best solutions to our customers," continued Edwardes. "To this end, we have already initiated discussions between Lexmark International SA and Tarsus Technologies regarding the transition plan, and we are confident that there will be no disruption to customer service levels during this period to either current or future clients.

"We are excited that our new relationship with Tarsus will enable Tally to become a top four player in the South African colour laser market, while maintaining a dominant position in line and dot matrix printing."
