James Paget Healthcare NHS Trust in Norfolk has just taken delivery of the first consignment of Tally T9112 laser printers, with further rollouts scheduled. A Tally user for the past six years, James Paget still looked at other manufacturers but chose to stay with Tally, as the only supplier that could deliver a working solution with the level of service and support it required.
"A prime requirement was for a well-featured laser with both serial and a parallel interface and Tally was the only manufacturer we could find offering this," explained Elisabeth Crowe, Head of IT at James Paget Healthcare NHS Trust. "Reliability is also a key factor so the extended on- site warranty was an added attraction, even when our past experience with Tally showed that service and support callouts would rarely be required."
The 12 page-per-minute T9112 mono laser printers, each with an optional 500-sheet paper cassette fitted, have already been sited across all wards to replace some of the ageing MT904 laser models. Used to produce a range of documents from its `green-screen` system, the new printers were installed with minimal disruption to existing networking and hospital activities.
Richard Fearon, Business Development Director at Venture Computer added: "The T9112 is a solid performer offering exceptional functionality and low running costs, backed up by our unrivalled service and support. James Paget is typical of the increasing number of our worldwide customers, who look at total cost of ownership, normally over a three- year period, rather than just the initial hardware costs. Here Tally is in a unique position because we offer an excellent product range that gives low running costs for the life of the printer. Tally`s expertise and diverse product range enables us to provide unbiased and objective advice on the best and most cost effective product for any application."
Tally`s 12ppm T9112 is ideal for users requiring effective, low-cost workgroup printing. PCL6 (or PCL5e) and a 75MHz 64-bit RISC processor ensure accurate data handling and fast throughput is achieved while the standard 4Mb of memory (expandable to 68Mb) copes with the demand for graphics printing at 600x600dpi resolution (enhanced to 4800x600dpi via EET) for smoother graphics curves and sharper text. Paper handling on the T9112 meets most user requirements with a manual feed, a 250- sheet universal bin plus optional 500-sheet bin and multi-purpose 100- sheet or 30-envelope feeder. Even greater flexibility is possible with the 16ppm T9116D duplex model.
Parallel and RS232c interfaces, with automatic switching is standard on the T9112, providing flexible connectivity across operating environments. PostScript II is optional as is IBM and Epson emulations for nonWindows compatibility. Other optional interfaces include LocalTalk for MacOS users plus Ethernet.
