Venture Computer, the sole distributor for Tally products in South Africa, today announced that the latest BMI-TechKnowledge South African Annual Desktop Printer report (March 1999), also includes a line printer category. According to the report, Tally products dominated all the measurements, yet again, with over 55% market share being recorded in terms of both unit and revenue sales. This is more than two and a half times the numbers recorded of the second placed manufacturer.
"At long last there is an independent report confirming a situation we knew to be true," commented Richard Fearon, the sales and marketing director at Venture Computer. "Although these printers are often characterised as the legacy products of the industry, they are still an important sector which is unlikely to significantly decline in size over the next few years," he added.
