TallyCom to represent TallyGenicom in SA

Johannesburg, 04 Feb 2004

Tally and Genicom, two of the leading global business printer suppliers, recently announced their plans to merge and form TallyGenicom in January 2004. The new printing leader, with an expected combined 2003 revenue of over $220 million, will focus exclusively on providing printers, consumables, printer parts and service to businesses around the world.

"The merger has formed a formidable competitor in the global business and industrial printer market," says David Terry, GM of TallyCom, local Tally representative - appointed as the sole TallyGenicom representative in SA from January 2004.

"Over the years we have established a strong customer base and support network in SA," Terry adds. "The addition of Genicom and its technologies will simply strengthen our overwhelming dominance in the impact printing market and provide an even broader range of technologies and service options to our clients."

TallyGenicom will be the only company with the ability to offer business and industrial users a full range of impact and non-impact printers. One of its focus areas in 2004 is the colour market, the fastest growing printer market segment in the world.

Terry assures South African customers it is business as usual, and they will not experience any inconvenience as a result of the merger. He adds that the new company is well positioned to offer a broader range of printing solutions and services that will benefit current and future customers.

"TallyCom has simply expanded its solutions base and extended the resources it can call on to ensure it meets clients` printing needs," he concludes. "Both Tally and Genicom customers can now count on better solutions and service for the long run."
