Tarsus announces local availability of Lenovo V100 notebook

Johannesburg, 23 Aug 2006

With its renewed strategy towards providing products and solutions that address the SME market, Tarsus Technologies has announced the local availability of the Lenovo 3000 V100 notebook.

Designed expressly for users with their own businesses, Brett Walter, Lenovo product manager at Tarsus Technologies, says the V100 has taken simplicity and ease of use to a new level.

"Small business owners need a great deal of functionality bundled into their notebooks, but at the same time need them to be reliable and capable of delivering a high level of performance. Apart from that, their ideal notebook should also not break their bank account," he adds.

"With the ability to recover from a virus outbreak at the touch of a button, connect to wired and wireless networks in a snap and automate maintenance tasks such as defragmenting hard disks and performing regular backups with minimal effort, the Lenovo range of notebooks allows small business owners to focus on the task at hand, and not their IT environment.

"Apart from the simplicity and ease of use, the V100 packs some serious processing punch with a range of Intel dual-core options to choose from," he adds.

Processor options vary from 1.66GHz to 2GHz and each V100 comes bundled with 512MB of RAM and a choice of a 40GB, 60GB, 80GB and 100GB hard disk.

"Graphics performance is well taken care of with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 and a 12-inch WXGA VibrantView monitor, that delivers a resolution of 1 200 x 800.

"Furthermore, this savvy 12-inch notebook includes added features like optical drives, fingerprint readers and Multicard readers. The V100 is probably one of the most functional 12-inch notebooks available today, featuring all of the ports, connections and optical drive options that a small business owner or executive could want.

Each V100 offers added value through bundled software with the Lenovo Care tools such as Adobe Reader; Diskeeper Lite; Corel Small Business Center featuring WordPerfect Office 12 (includes full versions of WordPerfect and Photo Album 6 Starter); Google Toolbar, Desktop and Picasa; a variety of InterVideo tools including InstantON, WinDVD and WinDVD Creator; Roxio DigitalMedia LE; Norton Internet Security 2005 Anti-spyware Edition (with 90 days of virus definitions); and PC Doctor.

"With all of this available at the recommended retail price of R9 850 excluding VAT, nothing comes close to the V100 for plain and simple great value for money," Walter enthuses.

"We believe that Lenovo has done an awesome job with the V100 and look forward to massive success with this new unit over the coming months," he concludes.
