Tarsus Technologies has announced the arrival of HP`s 9040 and 9050 monochrome laser workhorses, designed to cope with the most demanding workloads in the corporate world. The printers have a host of options that are able to sort, collate, staple and allow for minimal maintenance in a monthly duty cycle as high as 300 000 pages per month.
Says Drikus van der Walt, product manager at Tarsus Technologies, "The 9040 and 9050 are designed to cope with whatever the corporate user throws at them, delivering lightning fast print speeds of 40 and 50 pages per minute respectively. Both units come equipped by default with two 500 page paper bins, 64MB of RAM and two empty EIO slots."
"One step up from the base models, the 9040n and 9050n gain an additional 100 page multi-purpose paper tray, networking functionality through the use of HP`s Jetdirect Fast Ethernet embedded print server and an additional 64MB of RAM, taking the total memory to 128MB," van der Walt continues.
"At the top end of the range, the 9040dn and 9050dn benefit from all of the features of the lower ranges, but gain automatic two-sided printing functionality for ease of use and paper saving," he says.
Van der Walt says, "These features only scratch the surface of what`s possible. Corporate users can also choose to integrate any combination of HP 9040 and 9050 options, turning their organisation into a document production powerhouse."
"Options include a 2 000 sheet input tray, bringing the total paper capacity of the units to between 3 000 and 3 100 sheets, an 8-bin mailbox, stacker, stapler/stacker, or multifunction finisher and memory upgrades which can bring the total RAM to 512 MB."
"By utilising the two available EIO slots, customers can also add wireless printing capabilities with HP`s Jetdirect wireless print server, increase processing speed with a 20 GB HP high-performance EIO hard disk, or add a software solution for business functions like form, cheque, and barcode printing from HP or other third party vendors," van der Walt explains.
As if these options weren`t enough, van der Walt says customers also gain access to management functionality that ships standard with the 9050 unit. "Management features inherent on the 9050 allow customers to administer a single 9050 or a network of connected peripherals from a single interface, namely the web. This feature is enabled through the presence of the HP Embedded Web Server, which is present on all units"
"Administrators are allowed full control to remotely configure device settings and e-mail alerts, monitor status and diagnose device problems. HP Web Jetadmin also enables remote installation, configuration, diagnostics and proactive management for all of a customer`s network peripherals from a common web browser," he concludes.
