Tarsus blasts in with HP colour LaserJets - small footprint, powerful kick

Johannesburg, 25 Oct 2002

HP has announced the availability of a new range of colour LaserJet printers through Tarsus Technologies, the value-add distribution arm of MB Technologies. The entry-level colour LaserJet 2500 series delivers quality black and white, and colour documents at competitive prices.

HP says the compact, lightweight printers are "small enough to fit on any desk and powerful enough to tackle any print job".

Convenient maintenance of the printers is optimised by a unique "clean" focus from HP. A graphic control panel provides "at a glance" status of toner level gauges. The printers have one-door access to the toner and the automatic top-positioning of empty cartridges ensure easy, no-mess toner installation or replacement of cartridges. "One does not even need to be a qualified engineer to replace the toner," explains HP IPG product manager at Tarsus Technologies, Traci Maynard.

The colour LaserJet 2500 series printers deliver 16ppm in black type and 4ppm in colour at a rate of up to 30 000 pages a month. "Consistent high-quality output is achieved with HP ImageRet 2400 colour technology and a new chemically-grown toner formula to deliver a wide colour range and quality prints throughout the life span of the product," she says.

One-door access to toner and the automatic top-positioning of empty cartridges ensure that the printers are easily maintained. Maynard adds that one does not have to be a qualified engineer to replace the toner.

By using optional JetDirect EIO print servers, the HP 2500 LaserJet printers can be adapted to serve as network printers via 10/100 Ethernet, traditional Ethernet or 802.11b wireless connectivity.

A user selects from up to three different paper trays in order to accommodate various print jobs involving different media, distinguishing paper size, weight and type. Paper trays have the capacity for 875 sheets and the straight-through paper path ensures optimal results even when special or heavy media is used.

"An embedded Web server ensures easy management with other New HP printers for convenient remote management," Maynard adds.

"These no-mess convenient printers are particularly well suited to small businesses and will be available before the end of the month at an expected retail price of less than R16 000," she concludes.
