Tarsus commits to making it easier to do business in sub-Saharan Africa

Johannesburg, 19 Oct 2005

Following the formation of a dedicated HP Africa business unit, Tarsus Technologies has announced a substantial increase in its `out of country` business as well as the awareness the HP brand is garnering in sub-Saharan Africa.

"This demand is probably best quantified by the roughly 300% boost we`ve seen in sales of HP solutions outside of South Africa in the past three months," says Alan Hawkins, sales manager at Tarsus Technologies, "not to mention the fact that our sales team has literally been swamped with enquiries from resellers wanting to get a business relationship with Tarsus underway."

Hawkins says that this is a clear indication that Tarsus`s decision to enter the African market with HP solutions was more than sound and that there is a dearth of value-added distribution services in this region.

"The interest we`ve received in the past three months has spurred us on to raise the bar even higher in terms of the service we offer in the region," Hawkins continues.

Tarsus`s commitment started with the establishment of dedicated and focused sales and product management teams led, respectively, by Maxine Hadebe and Mark Thompson, who collectively hold over twenty years` experience in the ICT market.

"Beyond this however, the team is focusing squarely on expanding its activities to ease the process of doing business with Tarsus in sub-Saharan Africa," says Hawkins.

"These efforts consist of streamlining our logistics infrastructure to encompass the logistics partners the resellers in each country are most accustomed to using, driving prices down to the absolute minimum and assisting resellers where possible with securing favourable credit terms."

"While we realise that our presence in the sub-Saharan Africa market is a clear boon for our resellers, we are not going to rest on our laurels and give this region less focus than our core business region, namely South Africa," Hawkins continues.

"We are committed to making it as effortless for our sub-Saharan customers to do business with Tarsus as it is for our South African customers," he adds.

"As such, we urge our resellers to `watch this space` for improvements to our service offering, get in contact with the Tarsus team with feedback on how our service can be improved and ultimately, to give the Tarsus team a try. I have no doubt that their expectations will be exceeded," he concludes.
