Tarsus doubles warehouse space, gears up for growth of SA ICT market

Johannesburg, 09 Nov 2005

Tarsus Technologies has announced the expansion of its warehouse facility, more than doubling its current space. This expansion was achieved when the company secured an additional warehouse in a central location housed off-site from its head office in Bramley Park.

Gary Silverwood, logistics manager at Tarsus, says this move was spurred by the increasing demand for products from its reseller base and Tarsus`s goal to keep to its service level agreements in terms of delivery times.

"Over the past couple of months we`ve noticed a marked increase in the volume of business coming through Tarsus`s doors. In light of this, we also realised that we were nearing the point where additional warehouse space would be required to satisfy demand," Silverwood explains.

As such, he says, Tarsus proactively sought additional warehouse space that could easily be tailored and finely tuned to the distribution market, since the growth the company has experienced over the first six months of 2005 is predicted to continue over the coming year.

"We have put a great deal of effort into optimising the receiving and delivery processes across our complete warehousing infrastructure and are proud to announce that the new warehouse space has integrated well into our internal structure.

"We are currently receiving and delivering stock from both of these facilities, a practice which has allowed us to once again exceed our resellers` expectations with relation to the delivery and logistics services we offer to our customers," Silverwood continues.

Although both facilities currently carry the complete spread of Tarsus`s product portfolio, Silverwood says the new warehouse has been finely tuned to service the company`s high-volume customers.

"This means that no matter the size of the order placed with Tarsus, customers are guaranteed of stock availability and timeous deliveries, whether these are effected from our head office, or our off-site warehouse".

Silverwood says Tarsus is also committed to increasing the capabilities of its new facility and has plans in the pipeline to comply with all relevant certifications, allowing its new facility to become an extension of its current Wynberg-based configuration centre.

"This will allow us to expand our value-add offerings in terms of managing large roll-outs and building solutions to customer requirements, a competency that differentiates Tarsus in the market and provides a service that is growing in demand, " he says.

There are also massive benefits in the pipeline for Tarsus`s sister companies, since the new facility has sufficient floor space to accommodate their additional warehousing requirements.

"Thus, the establishment of Tarsus`s expanded warehouse facility will not only bring benefits to the Tarsus reseller channel, but also ensure that as a group, we keep going the extra mile for our customers," he concludes.
