Tarsus releases HP notebooks to cover entry-level to video editing markets

Johannesburg, 29 May 2003

In keeping with its commitment to supply the latest proven technologies to its clients, Tarsus Technologies has announced the availability of the new range of HP Compaq notebook computers.

"The new range has been designed to serve every market niche, from entry-level systems requiring basic computing and connectivity functionality at an affordable cost, without doing away with reliable, stable technology, to the top-of-the-range portable workstations offering serious computing and graphic power in a mobile form," says Andr'e Wollheim, HP product manager at Tarsus Technologies. "Not forgetting the middle ground where performance and technology is balanced with costs."

Starting at the entry-level, the nx series of notebooks offers users best value with the latest technology at affordable prices. One step up, the nc series provides high levels of performance and consistency, with the added assurance of long, stable lifecycles and enhanced warranties. "These globally available, stable, modular notebooks are the ideal way to reduce ongoing lifecycle costs," adds Wollheim.

Top of the range is the w series, combining workstation performance and enhanced graphics within the mobile package.

Committed to investment protection and lower total cost of ownership, the core HP Compaq notebook products share common options and accessories - MultiBay and MultiPort devices, power accessories, memory and hard drives.

MultiBay technology increases the expandability of HP Compaq notebooks by serving as a modular bay adaptor, allowing users to easily change devices or share modules between most other Compaq notebooks and desktops.

"MultiBay enables you to add your choice of DVDROM/CD-RW, CD-RW, DVD-ROM or CD-ROM optical drives, high-capacity hard drives up to 60GB, or a floppy disk drive," notes Wollheim. "You can also enhance the battery life of your notebook by simply slotting in an additional Lithium-Ion battery, for up to two hours of extra power."

The MultiPort is a flexible, modular solution that enables users to connect notebooks to a choice of Bluetooth, 802.11b Wireless LAN or GPRS wireless networks. By simply changing the wireless module located on the back of the notebook`s screen, users can easily switch between different standards, ensuring the highest available levels of connectivity and security.

"The combination of mobility-intelligent features and powerful technology increases the productivity of mobile users," adds Wollheim. "HP offers the industry`s broadest range of stable, reliable notebook PCs available in a choice of models to suit the specific requirements of any user environment, whatever its size or budget."

The new HP range of notebooks is now available from Tarsus.
