Tarsus talks business with the latest inkjet printers from HP

Johannesburg, 31 Oct 2002

For reliable workgroup printing at laser-equivalent speeds, Tarsus Technologies has announced the availability of HP`s new business inkjet 3000 series printers. "The affordable business inkjet 3000 series efficiently handles the printing needs of a workgroup of up to eight people, allowing organisations to add cost-effective colour to everyday business," says Traci Maynard, IPG product manager at Tarsus Technologies, the value-added distribution arm of MB Technologies.

The "intelligent networking" features of the printers provide office workers with high performance colour network printing capabilities at speeds of 18 pages per minute in colour and 21 pages per minute in black at HP`s renowned low colour cost-per-page rate.

Taking into account the price of the cartridges and the ink yield, as well as the price of the printheads and their yields, Tarsus Technologies has calculated cost-per-page rates of 29c in black and 92c in colour at 5% density. This indicates that separate print heads and cartridges are cheaper to run. Supporting the low TCO is the economical ink supplies management with separate, high-capacity inkjet cartridges so only the specific supplies that have expired need be replaced.

"What`s more," says Maynard, "the printers fit into a network like a laser printer, with the built-in HP JetDirect 615n Fast Ethernet 10/100TX internal print server enabling seamless connectivity in all major operating systems." Easy remote printer and supplies management from any standard Web browser is facilitated with the embedded Web server and HP Web JetAdmin.

"The printers feature automatic colour calibration, so business users can confidently print accurate, superior-quality documents," says Maynard. The range includes the HP Business inkjet 3000 base model, the 3000n featuring the internal print server and the 3000dtn with internal print server, a second paper input tray and automatic duplex printing accessory for two-sided printing.
