The EPSON Stylus Colour 740 represents the very latest innovation in ink jet technology, delivering four-colour PhotoReal output. It provides high quality output on all media types including plain paper, making it the ideal printer for the home enthusiast or SoHo user.
The Stylus Colour 740 introduces two major new innovations in inkjet technology; these are the EPSON Ultra Micro Dot and Epson`s Variable-sized Droplet Technology.
Micro Piezo technology is based on a fundamental characteristic of piezo crystal: when squeezed it produces an electric pulse that makes it expand. Essentially, a MicroPiezo print head can be considered a collection of miniature pumps, each using piezo crystal to eject ink from a tiny nozzle when fed a precise electric pulse. Piezo technology gives optimum control over the shape, size and positioning of each dot on the page. The use of a permanent print head increases reliability, reduces user requirements for re-calibration and avoids the additional costs of disposable heads.
Epson`s Ultra Micro Dot is the smallest ink droplet from any inkjet available today. At only six picolitre in volume, the new Ultra Micro Dot is 40% smaller than the current Super Micro Dot used by the Stylus Colour 850 which is 10 picolitre in size. The reduction in size of the Ultra Micro Dot is due to Micro Piezo technology. As a result of these technology developments, the Stylus Colour 740 able to deliver smoother gradations, the very highest level of detail and reduced possibility of graininess.
Furthermore, EPSON PhotoEnhance 3 technology automatically adjusts colour balance, exposure and contrast to boost print quality with tone, sharpness and digital camera correction options. PhotoEnhance 3 also includes an image resolution conversion function that automatically enhances the quality of low-resolution images, which is particularly useful for Web documents. In addition to Windows ICM and Apple ColorSync, the driver now supports sRGB (the new colour space standard for Windows 98).
The Stylus Colour 740 is also the first EPSON inkjet printer to include support for the Universal Serial Bus, now fully supported by Microsoft Windows 98. By recognising USB-compatible products and setting them up automatically, USB delivers a breakthrough in Plug and Play connectivity allowing equipment such as printers, scanners, mice, joysticks, and keyboards to be plugged into a computer without having to restart the machine before they`ll work. USB also offers much higher bandwidth (12 Mbps) than existing serial connectivity and allows the daisy chaining of multiple devices from a single port.
The new Stylus Colour 740 comes with a PerfectPicture Pak consisting of two software titles: Adobe PhotoDeluxe v.2 and EPSON Photo Sheet.
The 740 has a standard one-year return-to-base warranty.
This product qualifies for Tarsus Technologies` Epson Double-Bytes reseller promotion under the PartneRewards incentive programme.
