Tarsus Technologies announces new range of Samsung widescreen LCDs

Tarsus Technologies has proudly announced the local availability of the Samsung 931BW, 206BW and 226BW range of 19-, 20- and 22-inch flat-panel LCD monitors.

While the new monitors feature the usual refinements buyers have begun to expect from Samsung, including widescreen aspect ratios (16:10), higher than usual native resolutions and sub-2ms response times with sleek, desirable designs, the real news is the units' certification for use with Windows Vista Premium.

Darryl Squara, Samsung business manager at Tarsus, says this places the monitors in a league of their own.

Besides the BW range meeting the rigorous technical requirements set out by Microsoft in approving monitors for use with Vista, Squara says the widescreen nature of the new monitors is ideal for the Windows Vista desktop environment.

"One of the biggest changes Vista brings in terms of interface is the Windows Sidebar," he explains. "It almost requires a wider monitor to function in ideal conditions.

"The 16:10 aspect ratio of these new monitors allows users to make use of the Vista sidebar, while not sacrificing screen real-estate. Furthermore," he adds, "more business users are beginning to realise the benefits that widescreen monitors bring in the productivity stakes, since they allow far more information to be displayed, without too much of a sacrifice on desktop space or the pocket - in the region of 20% more information can be displayed on a monitor if it has a 16:10 aspect ratio, as opposed to the conventional aspect ratio of 4:3.

The Samsung 931BW, 206BW and 226BW range of 19-, 20- and 22-inch flat-panel LCD monitors are available from R2 299, R2 799 and R3 499 respectively, including VAT.
