TBWAHuntLascaris recently launched the new Kyocera ad on national TV and is enjoying a steady stream of positive comments around the campaign

Johannesburg, 09 Apr 2006

The ad is set in a typical office environment and the events that follow are both amusing and unbelievable as a family of Eskimos and their troops roam into the office interacting with the unsuspecting and surprised workers. The ad successfully captures both the office environment and that of the natural world of the Eskimos in what is a rather refreshing way to present such a product.

Director Peter Spiljeciv says "The whole situation in our script is bizarre beyond laughter... Shooting such a surreal script was a rare opportunity to play with "cold" uncomfortable and understated humour. The big visual inspiration was to capture the contrast of "plastic" office reality meeting the "organic" world of the Eskimos... ...Who can think of a better excuse for a report to be late!?"

The campaigns` aim was to establish the reliability of Kyocera printers and copiers and reinforce their positioning as global leaders in the industry.

"The concept is based on the universal insight of how office staff always blame the printer for missing deadlines. However with Kyocera machines here it means people will have to come up with new excuses, as the reliable Kyocera printer will never let you down. Hence the campaign line "anything is more believable than your Kyocera letting you down" comments Lapeace?

The creative team behind the ad was Petar Spiljevic (Director - Velocity), Lapeace Kakaza (Art Director) and Jonothan Smith (Copywriter).
