Team Puma, a division of Risa Textiles, one of South Africa`s top quality producers and processors of jersey fabrics, recently went live with SAP`s business enterprise system. Staff can now access vital information on demand and make the smartest, most strategic use of valuable company resources. SAP, global leader of enterprise application business software, will further strengthen Team Puma`s position in the marketplace, achieved by forward thinking, customer focus and a strong emphasis on technology.
The SAP solution provides Team Puma with the infrastructure to thrive in the extremely competitive textile industry, where it is necessary to take every measure possible to cut costs, increase efficiency and better serve customers.
John Kennekam, Group IS Executive for Risa Textiles, based in Cape Town, says: "We looked at many of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and decided SAP was best suited to our needs. Our primary concerns were functionality, support levels and long term sustainability - qualities which SAP provides in abundance.
"Our previous system was not fully Y2K compliant, another strong factor in our decision to use SAP," comments Kennekam. The 50 user SAP system, which involves Financials, Controlling, Sales & Distribution, Materials Management, Production Planning and Quality Management modules, was implemented over an eleven month period, with a two month delay in proceedings due to the take-over of the Daun group of companies. Most features of the ASAP methodology were used to speed up implementation.
"Team Puma foresees an improvement in production, planning and a number of other areas with the introduction of SAP. We have already seen an improvement in the integration of information within our company".
